Leon County Deputies Raise Money For Deputy Robert Lundy

Tallahassee, Fla. — The Leon County Sheriff’s Office is inviting you to help us raise money for Taylor County Deputy Robert Lundy and his family. On February 5, 2014, Deputy Lundy was involved in a shooting incident at a car dealership in Perry, Florida. During the incident, Deputy Lundy was shot and critically injured before he shot and killed the assailant. Deputy Lundy’s quick thinking and selfless actions unquestionably saved many lives. Deputy Lundy’s injuries remain serious and he is still recovering at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida.
On Thursday, March 13, 2014, members of the Leon County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting an old fashioned Chicken Purlieu in the employee parking lot at the Leon County Jail. Deputies will be selling and serving chicken with rice, Cole slaw, corn bread, pickles and tea for $5.00 a plate. Cake will also be served/sold for $1.00 a slice.
Please come out and join us for some great food and fellowship as we band together and lend a hand in support of a hero with a wife and two daughters. Taylor County Sheriff L.E. “Bummy” Williams will be there along with members of the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office and members of Deputy Lundy’s family.
Sheriff Larry Campbell said, “This is a great way for our community to come together and support a brother in law enforcement, his family and his co-workers while raising money to help offset the staggering costs of his recovery. We look forward to seeing you there.”
